The Story

There are only two members of Sinfonia Borealis. They met each other during Videregående Utdanning (equivalent to High School) in Østfold, Norway, and talked for close to a decade about how they should actually do work together.

During the early autumn of 2022, having played around with a sample library of a choir, Jonas Hanssen sent a work-in-progress song to Jonas Halvari Hansen. Struck by inspiration, Halvari wrote up a quick orchestration and recorded some backing vocals, sending these files back to Hanssen. Hanssen finished up the production, and after some short talks, it was decided they’d release this song under the name “Sinfonia Borealis”. The song in question? Cupiditate.

The creative process for each song is unpredictable. They don’t know what the other does with the existing material. One member has an idea and sends it to the other, and it might have gone in a completely different direction than expected. This cycle repeats until the song is done.
