Thing of Moloch
Empty the skies
Dry out the seas
Burn out the stars
And watch the world freeze
Across the earth
Your blood will reign
This is our curse
We’re made this way
We believe in an eye for an eye
From when we were birthed
to the end of our lives
Oh, we
see the end of the world
From down in the grave
Your throne will be burned
Bite the fruit
The rotten truth
This is life
It’s absolute
The serpent’s head
On your neck
The dead will rise
To collect their debt
We believe in an eye for an eye
From when we were birthed
to the end of our lives
Oh, we
see the end of the world
From down in the grave
Your throne will be burned
Gonna hunt you down
Throw you on the fire
Gonna let you drown
Steal your words
Take them higher
We believe
(Hunt you down)
In an eye for an eye
(On the fire)
From when we were birthed
(Let you drown)
To the end of our lives
(Take them higher)
Oh, we
(Hunt you down)
See the end of the world
(On the fire)
From down in the grave
(Let you drown)
Your throne will be burned
(Take them higher)

About the song
A “Thing” is an assembly of people. It is a common term in Norway (“ting”) for public institutions like the courts (Tingrett, Lagmannsrett), as well as the highest political institution in the country: Stortinget (The Great Thing).
Moloch is a term which appears on several occasions in the Tanakh, or Jewish Bible, for others known as the Old Testament in Christian faith. While it is unclear to scholars exactly what Moloch means, whether it’s a deity to whom children were sacrificed, or whether it is the sacrifice itself, it has seen renewed used in modern times. In modern terms, Moloch refers to a destructive power or system which demands great sacrifice.
