Tenebrae
Lyrics
In Abyssum Spectavi
Et Abyssus in me Spectavit
I would move the Heavens and the Earth
To remove this curse
There is a voice inside my heart
Feeling cold, I’m torn apart
It never stops, I try to believe
That a saviour would rescue me
In Abyssum Spectavi
Et Abyssus in me Spectavit
I hunger and crave for the light
That leads me to my grave
The longer I wait, I know
I can’t be saved
You fucked me like you meant it
The dark, I fight against it
I should’ve known it wasn’t true
(I never know what to do)
You were my mirror’s image
Love didn’t have a limit
I should’ve known, it wasn’t true
(Worship the thought of you)
There is a voice inside my heart
Feeling cold, I’m torn apart
It never stops, I try to believe
That a saviour would rescue me
“Darkness”
About
The opening track, Tenebrae is about the cold darkness that is loneliness, the longing to find someone to fill that emptiness one feels inside.
It was around the time we wrote the songs for Opus Nihil that the term “Halvari-choir” started to become a thing internally. This refers to the fact whenever there’s a mens’ choir section or choir “aaahs” in the song, every voice consists of Halvari double-tracking a four-piece choir.
