About
For as long as civilisation has existed, cults have been there hand-in-hand alongside human development. Exactly what they offer varies from cult to cult, but most importantly to many people, cults offer community. An in-group one can identify with, while the leadership prozelytises about some “Great Truth”.
One such cult that once existed was the Peoples’ Temple. Started by Jim Jones (1931 - 1978), the Peoples’ Temple might best be described as a christo-communistic cult. This song is part one of two exploring this cult, focusing more on the propaganda and indoctrination taking place within the Peoples’ Temple.
