Lyrics

I know that our end is near
Let me take you away from here
No harm no pain
Have no fear

I have lived for you
And in your heart you know it’s true
I will die for you
Straight to the grave, we’ll be renewed

I have loved you
I have tried my best
I don’t want to leave
But it’s all a test

We’ll reach the heavens
As we leave the earth
And from our bodies
Our souls emerge

All the hurt and pain
All of the sorrow, we can’t remain
Don’t make a fuss
For we all know, death will reign

They’re all carnivores
Waiting to see how we’ll fall
It’s a promise
That death will conquer all

I have loved you
I have tried my best
I don’t want to leave
But it’s all a test

We’ll reach the heavens
As we leave the earth
And from our bodies
Our souls emerge

I am the truth
I am the light
Our final moments
In the true white night

This is our final scene
Drink up and go to sleep
And when you go
Please follow me

About

Following Magna Veritas, Mors Vincit Omnia is the second part of the story of the Peoples’ Temple and Jim Jones, this time focusing on the cult’s final act in Guyana 1978.

The People’s Temple, facing governmental oversight in the US, fled to Guyana and established a commune they named Jonestown. During this time, Jim Jones became increasingly more paranoid, doing regular drills where every participant of the cult had to drink a soft drink as to show their dedication to an eventual suicide should Jonestown be besieged by alleged enemies. These drills were referred to as “White Nights”, and acted as a preparation for the eventual mass suicide in 1978, where almost a thousand people died during a ritual suicide, drinking cyanide-laced Flavour-aid. The entire ordeal is recorded on tape and available to be listened to online, though it is a deeply harrowing experience.
